For many people, the New York Cosmos soccer team, which brought legendary Brazilian great Pelé to the U.S. in the 1970s, needs no introduction. But the team will be relying on new players such as midfielder Joseph “JoJo” Nane, 26, to reestablish itself on the playing field this fall. The Cosmos are competing in the North American Soccer League (NASL) for the first time since the original franchise ceased play in the mid-1980s.
